{"id":42616,"date":"2021-09-28T15:23:44","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T15:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/?p=42616"},"modified":"2021-12-27T16:26:49","modified_gmt":"2021-12-27T16:26:49","slug":"goes-17-sees-landsat-9-rocket-plume","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/42616","title":{"rendered":"GOES-17 sees Landsat 9 Rocket Plume"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/goesdata.html#info\">ABI<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nesdis.noaa.gov\/\">NOAA<\/a>&#8216;s GOES-17 (GOES-West) was able to see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nasa-landsat-9-earth-observation-satellite-launch-success\">Landsat 9 rocket<\/a> plume from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Vandenberg+Air+Force+Base\/@34.6119566,-120.4534791,9z\/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xd7ea9c09f025e90f!8m2!3d34.7420267!4d-120.5724404\">Vandenberg Space Force base<\/a>. The plume was most evident on ABI bands 7 (3.9 \u00b5m) and 8 (6.2 \u00b5m), using the mesoscale sector (1) on September 27, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video autoplay controls loop src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2021\/09\/G17ABI_M1_PLUME_loop_2021270_181125_2021270_181825.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption>The 16 spectral bands from GOES-17 on September 27, 2021 off the coast of California.
