During the preceding week, abnormally warm and dry conditions across much of Southeast Alaska (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2021\/04\/2104_PAJN_temps_precip_snow_anim.gif\"><strong>Juneau<\/strong><\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2021\/04\/2104_PAKT_temps_precip_snow_anim.gif\"><strong>Ketchikan<\/strong><\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2021\/04\/2104_PASI_temps_precip_snow_anim.gif\"><strong>Sitka<\/strong><\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2021\/04\/2104_PAYA_temps_precip_snow_anim.gif\"><strong>Yakutat<\/strong><\/a>) promoted significant snow melt which exposed a great deal of surface glacial silt.<\/p>\n<p>The leading edge of the aerosol could also be seen in GOES-17 Near-Infrared &#8220;Cirrus&#8221; (1.37 \u00b5m) images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em>.
