The GOES-16 loops show an 18 UTC image each day of 2020, while GOES-17 shows an image from 21 UTC. The images are Rayleigh-corrected composites. Although it should be noted that all these images are drastically sub-sampled from the higher spatial resolution imagery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A similar year-long animation, from GOES-17 at 21 UTC daily. Similar loops from GOES-17 have been generated using images from 21 UTC for both <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-17_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_2020_18Z_AK_loop.mp4\">Alaska<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-17_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_2020_18Z_HI_loop.mp4\">Hawaii<\/a>. These loops begin on January 1, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hourly Views of the Midwest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A very large (~800 MB) <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_hourly_2020_midwest_loop.mp4\">file<\/a>, showing a year-long (hourly) GOES-16 file over the Midwest (duration of 14 min) covering 2020. Many features can be seen, including clouds, smoke and snow. Note that this loop is sub-sampled in time by a factor of 12. RGB imagery of the CIMSS <a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_CIMSSRGB_v2.pdf\">(Natural) true color<\/a> (during the day) and the nighttime<a href=\"http:\/\/rammb.cira.colostate.edu\/training\/visit\/quick_guides\/QuickGuide_GOESR_NtMicroRGB_Final_20191206.pdf\"> cloud microphysics<\/a> (during the night) are shown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These images were made with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/software\/geo2grid\/\">geo2grid s\/w<\/a>, with NOAA GOES data via the UW-Madison, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/datacenter\/\">SSEC<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Daily Full Disk imagery By animating daily NOAA GOES-16 or GOES-17 ABI Full Disk visible imagery, the year are 2020 can be shown quickly in review.
