For example, the minimum in incoming solar radiation in the Northern Hemisphere associated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/glossary.ametsoc.org\/wiki\/Winter_solstice\">Winter Solstice<\/a>. The beginning date is the (northern hemisphere) winter solstice is 2019 and the end date is the winter solstice in 2020. A user can play the animation, as well as annotate the images. For example, draw lines along the <a href=\"https:\/\/glossary.ametsoc.org\/wiki\/Terminator\">terminator<\/a> for different times of the year. One example might be to compare a solstice to an equinox. Since this are daytime images, only the true color is being seen. A similar loop as above, but with a <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_midwest_loop_37sec.mp4\">duration of 37 sec<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_midwest_loop_74sec.mp4\">74 sec<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year-long, GOES-16 loops at 18 UTC have been generated for other regions, including: the <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_northeast_loop.mp4\">Northeast<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_midAtl_loop.mp4\">Mid-Atlantic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_southeast_loop.mp4\">Southeast<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_GulfOfMexico_loop.mp4\">Texas and part of the Gulf of Mexico<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_centralUS_loop.mp4\">Central US<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_southwest_loop.mp4\">Southwest<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_northwest_loop.mp4\">Northwest<\/a>. Similar loops from GOES-17 have been generated using images from 21 UTC for both <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-17_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_AK_loop.mp4\">Alaska<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-17_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_18Z_HI_loop.mp4\">Hawaii<\/a>. Note for the loop over parts of Alaska, the nighttime imagery is evident. These loops begin on the Winter Solstice 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Year-long Hourly Loop over the Midwest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A very large (800 MB) <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/12\/GOES-16_ABI_RadF_true_color_night_microphysics_hourly_midwest_loop.mp4\">file<\/a>, showing a year-long (hourly) GOES-16 file over the Midwest (duration of 14 min). The loop is also on <a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/YouTube_Winter_Solstice_loop_1Year.html\">YouTube<\/a>. Many features can be seen, including clouds, smoke and snow.
