href=\"https:\/\/inciweb.nwcg.gov\/incident\/7242\/\">East Troublesome Fire<\/a> in Colorado expanded greatly on 21 October (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/38705\">click here for more information<\/a>), and produced pyrocumulus clouds.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/10\/na2020_10_21_295_N20orbits.gif\">NOAA-20 overflew the fire at around 1930 UTC<\/a> (linked-to overpass map from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/datacenter\/NOAA20\/\">this site<\/a>) on 21 October, and NUCAPS profiles, shown above, diagnosed the stability of the mid- and upper-troposphere.\u00a0 The toggle below between the NOAA-20 <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/10\/NPPVIIRSVis-20201021_204831-20201021_201546.png\">VIIRS Visible (0.64 \u00b5m)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/10\/NPPVIIRSIR-20201021_201546.png\">Infrared (11.45 \u00b5m)<\/a> imagery and around the fire location.\u00a0 A fire-driven updrafts in the region would not find much in the way to impede its vertical development.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_38720\" style=\"width: 635px\"
