A bore structure eventually developed near the leading edge of the cold frontal gravity wave as it continued moving south over New Mexico\/Texas\/Oklahoma during the subsequent overnight hours.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/10\/201011_goes16_waterVapor_windGusts_Plains_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/10\/G16_WV_WINDS_PLAINS_CDFNT_BLDN_11OCT2020_B9_2020286_050114_GOES-16_0001PANEL_FRAME00133.GIF\" alt=\"GOES-16 Mid-level Water Vapor (6.9 \u00b5m) images, with plots of hourly surface wind barbs and gusts [click to play animation | MP4]\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-16 Mid-level Water Vapor<em> (6.9 \u00b5m)<\/em> images, with plots of hourly surface wind barbs and gusts [click to play animation | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/10\/201011_goes16_waterVapor_windGusts_Plains_anim.mp4\"><strong>MP4<\/strong><\/a>]<\/p><\/div>As the surface cold front moved southward across the <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/10\/201006_CO_drought_monitor.png\"><strong>drought-impacted<\/strong><\/a> plains of eastern Colorado, 1-minute <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/23225\"><strong>Mesoscale Domain Sector<\/strong><\/a> GOES-16 \u201cRed\u201d Visible (<a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band02.pdf\"><strong>0.64 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) and CIMSS Natural Color Red-Green-Blue (RGB) images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> revealed the hazy signature of blowing dust lofted by post-frontal northerly winds with <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2020\/10\/201011_wind_reports.text\"><strong>peak gusts<\/strong><\/a> in the 60-80 knot range.
