The initial round of storms produced a curved outflow boundary across central and eastern Iowa &#8212; and several orphan anvils could be seen forming along this outflow boundary before the second round of storms arrived. Numerous pulsing overshooting tops were evident within each of the storm clusters.<\/p>\n<p>The corresponding GOES-16 \u201cClean\u201d Infrared Window (<a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band13.pdf\"><strong>10.35 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) images are shown below. The coldest cloud-top infrared brightness temperatures were around -70\u00baC.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 653px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" thunderstorms produced a north-to-south swath of large hail (up to 4.0 inches in diameter) and damaging winds across eastern Kansas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/climo\/reports\/200711_rpts.html\"><strong>SPC Storm Reports<\/strong><\/a>). 1-minute GOES-16 Visible images <em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em> and Infrared images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> showed these storms, whose pulsing overshooting tops eventually exhibited infrared brightness temperatures of -80\u00baC and colder <em>(violet
