Band 12 on the ABI, at 9.61 \u00b5m, to estimate where high ozone concentrations exist in the atmosphere?\u00a0 The short answer to this is &#8220;No&#8221; &#8212; at least if you&#8217;re using just the 9.61 \u00b5m band.\u00a0 Compare the retrieved and <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/NUCAPSTotalOzone-20200211_165351.png\">gridded values below from NUCAPS<\/a> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/G16ABIBand12-20200211_165351.png\">Band 12 brightness temperature<\/a>;\u00a0 it is difficult to make a claim that this single ABI band gives useable information in the detection of ozone.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_35619\" style=\"width: 635px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/NUCAPS_G16ABIBand12-20200211_1653_toggle.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35619\" class=\"wp-image-35619\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/NUCAPS_G16ABIBand12-20200211_1653_toggle.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"606\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-35619\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gridded NUCAPS estimates of Ozone, and the Band 12 &#8220;Ozone&#8221;
