Later in the day, Dorian transitioned to a post-tropical storm before making landfall over Nova Scotia around 2215 UTC. Due to high amounts of\u00a0 deep-layer wind shear, the low-level circulation center of Dorian remained exposed while deep convection remained to its north and northeast. The eye of Dorian moved over <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/09\/190907_buoy44014_wind_gust_pressure.png\"><strong>Buoy 44011<\/strong><\/a>, which recorded a wind gust to 82 knots; in western Nova Scotia, winds gusted to 70 knots at <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/09\/190907_CYQI_SFCMG.GIF\"><strong>Yarmouth<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/09\/190907_suomiNPP_noaa20_viirs_trueColor_infraredWindow_Dorian_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/09\/190907_suomiNPP_noaa20_viirs_trueColor_infraredWindow_Dorian_anim.gif\" alt=\"VIIRS True Color RGB and Infrared Window (11.45 \u00b5m) images from Suomi NPP and NOAA-20 [click to enlarge]\" width=\"640\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">VIIRS True Color RGB and Infrared Window <em>(11.45 \u00b5m)<\/em> images from Suomi NPP and NOAA-20 [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>VIIRS True Color RGB and Infrared Window\u00a0(11.45 \u00b5m) images from Suomi NPP and NOAA-20 as visualized using <a href=\"http:\/\/realearth.ssec.wisc.edu\"><strong>RealEarth<\/strong><\/a> <em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em> revealed a brighter region exhibiting a somewhat hazy appearance within the cloud-free slot southwest of the eye during the 16-17 UTC period. This could have been a signature of diffuse solar reflection off highly-agitated ocean waves &#8212; a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/archive\/2019\/al05\/al052019.discus.058.shtml?\"><strong>NHC discussion<\/strong><\/a> noted strong <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/09\/190907_15utc_metopB_ascat_Dorian.png\"><strong>Metop-B ASCAT winds<\/strong><\/a> of 80 knots or higher in that area around 15 UTC <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 653px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/09\/190907_15utc_metopB_ascat_Dorian.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/09\/190907_15utc_metopB_ascat_Dorian.png\" alt=\"Metop-B ASCAT winds [click to enlarge]\" width=\"643\" height=\"565\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Metop-B ASCAT winds [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>On the following day, Suomi NPP VIIRS True Color and Infrared\u00a0 images<em><strong> (below)<\/strong><\/em> showed Post-Tropical Cyclone Dorian when its center was over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
