Some of these storms produced <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/190602_pafg_lsr.text\"><strong>small hail<\/strong><\/a>, prompting the issuance of a Severe Thunderstorm Warning:<br \/>\n<center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Severe Thunderstorm Warning including Fairbanks AK until 6:30 PM AKDT <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DguPuFDsbg\">pic.twitter.com\/DguPuFDsbg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NWS Severe Tstorm (@NWSSevereTstorm) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NWSSevereTstorm\/status\/1135368157428760576?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 3, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/center><br \/>\nUsually the GOES-17 <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/32205\"><strong>Mesoscale Domain Sector #2<\/strong><\/a> is positioned over Alaska to provide 1-minute imagery &#8212; but on this day it was relocated to cover severe thunderstorms across New Mexico and Texas &#8212; so imagery over Alaska was only available at the 10-minute Full Disk scan interval.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the hail, these storms also produced heavy rainfall &#8212; especially at Fairbanks, with <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/190602_pafg_rer.text\"><strong>0.65 inch falling in only 21 minutes<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 654px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/190602_PAFA_SFCMG.GIF\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/06\/190602_PAFA_SFCMG.GIF\" alt=\"Time series of surface report data from Fairbanks International Airport [click to enlarge]\" width=\"644\" height=\"483\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Time series of surface report data from Fairbanks International Airport [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GOES-17 (GOES-West) &#8220;Red&#8221; Visible (0.64 \u00b5m) and &#8220;Clean&#8221; Infrared Window (10.3 \u00b5m) images (above) showed thunderstorms that developed across Interior Alaska on 02 June 2019.
