A descending tropopause brought ozone-rich air from the stratosphere down to very low altitudes \u2014 and this ozone-rich air was highlighted by deeper shades of red (the Air Mass RGB uses the <a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band12.pdf\"><strong>9.6 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a> Ozone band to calculate the Green component). A Gale Force low became better organized beneath this PV anomaly, quickly reaching it&#8217;s occluded stage (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/190129_surface_analyses_East_Pacific_anim.gif\"><strong>surface analyses<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The deepening midlatitude cyclone also exhibited a vivid signature on GOES-17 Mid-level Water Vapor (<a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band09.pdf\"><strong>6.9 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) imagery <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em>.
