It is interesting to note that the CDO was centered a considerable distance to the southwest of the low-level circulation of the tropical cyclone.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2009\/07\/090716_MTSAT_IR.GIF\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MTSAT-1R IR image\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2009\/07\/090716_MTSAT_IR.GIF\" title=\"MTSAT-1R 10.3 \u00c2\u00b5m IR image\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">MTSAT-1R 10.3 \u00c2\u00b5m IR image<\/p><\/div><br \/>\n4-km resolution MTSAT-1R 10.3 \u00c2\u00b5m IR cloud top brightness temperatures <strong><em>(above)<\/em><\/strong> were a cold as <strong>-92.4\u00c2\u00ba C<\/strong> <em>(purple color enhancement)<\/em> at 12:30 UTC. 1 hour and 15 minutes later, a 1-km resolution MODIS 11.0 \u00c2\u00b5m IR image <strong><em>(below)<\/em><\/strong> indicated that cloud top IR brightness temperatures were still as cold as <strong>-92.1\u00c2\u00ba C<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2009\/07\/090716_MODIS_CH31.GIF\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MODIS IR image\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2009\/07\/090716_MODIS_CH31.GIF\" title=\"MODIS IR image\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">MODIS IR image<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MTSAT-1R InfraRed (IR) images from the CIMSS Tropical Cyclones site (above) showed the rapid development of a cold Central Dense Overcast (CDO) as Tropical Storm 07W (Molave) intensified east of the Philippines in the West Pacific Ocean on 16 July 2009.
