A distinct <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.ametsoc.org\/doi\/abs\/10.1175\/WAF-D-18-0040.1\">above-anvil cirrus plume<\/a><\/strong> could be seen with this storm.<\/p>\n<p>The corresponding GOES-16 &#8220;Clean&#8221; Infrared Window (<a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band13.pdf\"><strong>10.3 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> revealed that the dominant northern storm began to exhibit a well-defined <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.ametsoc.org\/doi\/10.1175\/WAF1022.1\"><strong>enhanced-V<\/strong><\/a> signature (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/07\/G16_IR_WY_SVR_28JUL2018_960x1280_B13_2018209_205127_0001PANEL_00082.GIF\"><strong>2051 UTC image<\/strong><\/a>) about an hour before it began to produce tornadoes.
