As was the case on <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/28394\"><strong>06 June<\/strong><\/a>, a GOES-16 Mesoscale Domain Sector centered over the tropical cyclone provided 1-minute data &#8212; and an eye eventually became apparent on\u00a0 &#8220;Red&#8221; Visible (<a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band02.pdf\"><strong>0.64 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) and &#8220;Clean&#8221; Infrared Window <em>(10.3 \u00b5m)<\/em> images [click to play MP4 animation]<\/p><\/div>Aletta went through a period of rapid intensification (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/06\/180608_adt_Aletta.gif\"><strong>ADT<\/strong><\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/06\/180608_satcon_Aletta.gif\"><strong>SATCON<\/strong><\/a>), reaching Category 4 status by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/archive\/2018\/ep02\/ep022018.discus.012.shtml?\"><strong>15 UTC<\/strong><\/a> on 08 June. 1-minute GOES-16 Infrared (10.3 \u00b5m) images <em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em> showed the eye becoming more well-defined during the pre-dawn hours.<\/p>\n<p>After sunrise, GOES-16 Visible images<em><strong> (below)<\/strong><\/em> initially hinted at the presence of mesovortices within the eye of Aletta.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/06\/180608_goes16_visible_infrared_Aletta_anim.mp4\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/06\/G16_VIS_IR_ALETTA_08JUN2018_958x638_B213_2018159_151911_0002PANELS_00140.GIF\" alt=\"GOES-16 \" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-16 &#8220;Red&#8221; both\u00a0 of which were favorable factors for intensification.
