Such features have been discussed before on the CIMSS Blog &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/20324\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/12074\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/555\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/221\">here<\/a>! Rope Clouds are handy features in satellite analysis over the ocean because they indicate distinctly where the surface cold front exists. Note that the WPC surface analysis, shown <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/01\/sfc012218_131002.gif\">here <\/a>for 1500 UTC, has the front in the same location as the rope cloud, with convection noted out in advance of the surface cold front.
