A Terra MODIS Infrared Window (11.0 \u00b5m) image<em><strong> (above)<\/strong><\/em> revealed cloud-top brightness temperatures as cold as -77\u00baC at 0508 UTC.<\/p>\n<p>GOES-16 &#8220;Clean&#8221; Infrared Window (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/education\/docs\/ABI-bands-FS\/ABI_Band_13_FS_CLEAN_LW_IR_FINAL.pdf\"><strong>10.3 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) images<em><strong> (below)<\/strong><\/em> showed the development and eventual dissipation of the overnight convection.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/170717_goes16_infrared_AZ_pre-MCV_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/960x1280_GOES16A_B13_G16_IR_AZ_MCV_16UL2017_2017198_051218_0001PANEL.GIF\" alt=\"GOES-16 Infrared Window (10.3 \u00b5m) images, with station identifiers plotted in yellow and SPC storm reports plotted in cyan [click to play animation]\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-16 Infrared Window <em>(10.3 \u00b5m)<\/em> images, with station identifiers plotted in yellow and SPC storm reports plotted in cyan [click to play animation]<\/p><\/div>During the following daytime hours, GOES-16 &#8220;Red&#8221; Visible (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/education\/docs\/ABI-bands-FS\/ABI%20Fact%20Sheet%20Band%202.pdf\"><strong>0.64 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> displayed the circulation of a <a href=\"http:\/\/rammb.cira.colostate.edu\/training\/visit\/training_sessions\/mesoscale_convective_vortices\/\"><strong>Mesoscale Convective Vortex<\/strong><\/a> (MCV) as it propagated west-southwestward across southern Arizona. Note that surface dewpoint temperatures were in the upper 60s to low 70s F across southern Arizona, an indicator of the monsoon moisture that was in place across the region.
