Such was the case on 10 July 2017, with dewpoints in the 50s and 60s F (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/170710_goes16_visible_metars_undular_bores_Lake_Superior_anim.mp4\">GOES-16 Visible images with surface observations<\/a>) and mid-lake water temperatures as cold as 40\u00ba F <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/170710_1702utc_1842utc_modis_sst_buoy_reports_anim.gif\">(buoy reports<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/170710_1702utc_1842utc_modis_sst_anim.gif\">MODIS SST values<\/a>) &#8212; and very interesting waves were observed in the stratus deck. They had the appearance of Atmospheric Bores: parallel lines of clouds moving in one direction.
