above from\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.weather.gov\/gid\/\">NWS Hastings<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0GOES-16 imagery highlighted the presence of a narrow swath of rainfall and hail in the wake of a small thunderstorm that moved south\/southeastward across the Nebraska\/Kansas state line area on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/dailywxmap\/index_20170626.html\">26 June 2017<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A 3-panel comparison of GOES-16 Visible (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/education\/docs\/ABI-bands-FS\/ABI%20Fact%20Sheet%20Band%202.pdf\">0.64 \u00b5m<\/a><\/strong>), Snow\/Ice (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/education\/docs\/ABI-bands-FS\/ABI_Band%205_snow-ice_factsheet_FINAL.pdf\"><strong>1.61\u00a0 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) and Shortwave Infrared (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/education\/docs\/ABI-bands-FS\/ABIBand7ShortwaveWindowFINAL.pdf\"><strong>3.9\u00a0 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) images<em><strong> (below)<\/strong><\/em> revealed a subtle signature of the hail swath on the Snow\/Ice images <em>(where ice features appear as darker shades of gray:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/06\/960x427_GOES16A_B257_G16_3PANEL_NE_HAIL_SWATH_26JUN2017_2017177_193219_0003PANELS.GIF\"><strong>southern NE<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/06\/960x427_GOES16A_B257_G16_3PANEL_NE_HAIL_SWATH_26JUN2017_2017177_210719_0003PANELS.GIF\"><strong>northern KS<\/strong><\/a>),<\/em> while the Shortwave Infrared images showed that the hail and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/06\/170627_12utc_24hour_NE_KS_precipitation.jpeg\">rainfall swath<\/a><\/strong> &#8212; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/06\/170627_kgid_rtp.text\">accumulations<\/a><\/strong> in southern Kansas included 0.58&#8243; at Clay Center and 0.49&#8243; at Hebron &#8212; remained slightly cooler<em> (lighter gray)<\/em> as the adjacent dry land surfaces continued to warm during the early to middle afternoon hours. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/climo\/reports\/170626_rpts.html\">SPC storm reports<\/a><\/strong> listed hail of 1.75 inches in diameter in southern Nebraska and 1.25 inches in northern Kansas.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" seen associated with the rainfall\/hail swath, a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/06\/MODIS_LST_20170626_2007.png\">Land Surface Temperature<\/a><\/strong> (LST) product derived using Aqua MODIS data <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> indicated that LST values were generally in the upper 60s to upper 70s F within the narrow swath,\u00a0 in contrast to LST values in the 90s to around 100\u00ba F adjacent to the swath.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a
