As a result, both 1-minute GOES-16 <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/23225\"><strong>Mesoscale Sectors<\/strong><\/a> were positioned over that region, providing images at 30-second intervals. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/spacesegment\/abi.html\"><strong>ABI<\/strong><\/a> 0.5-km resolution Visible (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/education\/docs\/ABI-bands-FS\/ABI%20Fact%20Sheet%20Band%202.pdf\"><strong>0.64 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) images with <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/217\"><strong>parallax<\/strong><\/a>-corrected <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/climo\/reports\/170328_rpts.html\"><strong>SPC storm reports<\/strong><\/a> of hail and tornadoes <em><strong>(above; <\/strong>also available as a 193 Mbyte<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/170328_goes16_visible_meso_TX_Panhandle_svr_anim_2.gif\">animated GIF<\/a>)<\/strong><\/em> showed a very detailed view of the overshooting tops associated with the storms during the 2030-2359 UTC time period.<\/p>\n<p>The images were centered approximately over the Lubbock (KLBB) to Midland (KMAF) to Abilene (KABI) region<em><strong> (below)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/170328_g16_vis_TX_anot.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/170328_g16_vis_TX_anot.gif\" alt=\"GOES-16 Visible (0.64 \u00b5m) image, with station identifiers KLBB, KMAF and KABI highlighted [click to enlarge]\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-16 Visible (0.64 \u00b5m) image, with station identifiers KLBB, KMAF and KABI highlighted [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>** The GOES-16 data posted on this page are preliminary, non-operational data and are undergoing testing. ** The Storm Prediction Center issued a Moderate Risk for severe thunderstorms over the southern Plains on 28 March 2017.
