A Mesoscale sector over Pennsylvania today provided 1-minute imagery, enabling forecasters to view the event as it happened (Click image above for an mp4 animation, or <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/GOES16_REDVIS_03MARCH2017_142757_200057anim.gif\">here<\/a> for a 300-megabyte animated gif). The excellent temporal sampling of the mesoscale sectors &#8212; which data typically shows up in AWIPS within two minutes &#8212; is key to monitoring the progression of the snow bands across Pennsylvania. &#8216;Clean Infrared Window&#8217; (that is, 10.3 \u00b5m) animations for this event are available here (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/GOES16_CLEANWINDOW_03MARCH2017_142757_184557anim.mp4\">mp4<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/GOES16_CLEANWINDOW_03MARCH2017_142757_184557anim.gif\">animated gif<\/a>). These infrared animations end at 1845 UTC. Note that State College PA (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/170303_KUNV_SFCMG.GIF\">KUNV<\/a>) had 1\/8th mile visibility in snow at 1835 UTC.
