As mentioned in a WPC <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/metwatch\/metwatch_mpd_multi.php?md=351&amp;yr=2016\"><strong>Mesoscale Precipitation Discussion<\/strong><\/a>, some of these storms were focused along the nose of a low-level jet that was helping to push a warm frontal boundary (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/06\/160614-15_surface_analysis_anim.gif\"><strong>surface analyses<\/strong><\/a>) through the region. Moisture was also abundant south of the warm front, with a total precipitable water value of 55.1 mm (2.17 inches) seen in rawinsonde data from <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/06\/160615_00Z_KDVN_RAOB.GIF\"><strong>Davenport IA<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/06\/160615_1641utc_landsat8_falsecolor_Dane_County_Wisconsin_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/06\/160615_1641utc_landsat8_falsecolor_Dane_County_Wisconsin_anim.gif\" alt=\"Landsat-8 false-color image [click to enlarge]\" width=\"640\" height=\"418\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Landsat-8 false-color image [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>A timely cloud-free <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/datacenter\/LANDSAT-8\/archive\/NA\/2016_06(153-182)\/na2016_06_15_167.gif\"><strong>overpass<\/strong><\/a> of the Landsat-8 satellite on the morning of 15 June provided a 30-meter resolution false-color image as viewed using <a href=\"http:\/\/realearth.ssec.wisc.edu\"><strong>RealEarth<\/strong><\/a> <em><strong>(above),<\/strong><\/em> which showed areas of flooding &#8212; water appears as darker shades of blue &#8212; in the Black Earth area of western Dane County in southern Wisconsin.
