The shadow was most obvious across the northern portion of the images, moving over\u00a0Alaska, the Gulf of Alaska, western\/northern Canada, and the far northwestern portion of the Lower 48 States of the US. The partial eclipse shadow could also be seen on GOES-13 <em>(GOES-East)<\/em> 0.63 \u00b5m visible channel images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/10\/141023_goes13_visible_solar_eclipse_shadow_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/10\/141023_goes13_visible_solar_eclipse_shadow_anim.gif\" alt=\"GOES-13 0.63 \u00b5m visible channel images\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-13 0.63 \u00b5m visible channel images<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to <a title=\"EarthSky.org article\" href=\"http:\/\/earthsky.org\/tonight\/partial-solar-eclipse-for-north-america-on-october-23\"><strong>EarthSky.org<\/strong><\/a> the point of greatest eclipse<em> (75% coverage of the solar disk by the Moon)<\/em> was near Prince of Wales Island, Nunavut, Canada at 21:44 UTC.
