click image to play animation)<\/strong><\/em> showed a large pocket of SAL <em>(yellow to red color enhancement)<\/em> drifting westward over the far western Atlantic Ocean and toward the Gulf of Mexico on 28 August 2014.<\/p>\n<p>On GOES-13 0.63 \u00b5m visible channel images <em><strong>(below; click image to play animation),<\/strong><\/em> the hazy signature of the SAL dust could be seen surging westward, not far to the south of Category 1 intensity <a title=\"Hurricane Cristobal (NHC discussion archicve)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/archive\/2014\/CRISTOBAL.shtml?\"><strong>Hurricane Cristobal<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"thumbnail\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/140828_goes13_visible_Cristobal_SAL_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/140828_G13_VIS_CRISTOBAL_SAL_05.GIF\" alt=\"GOES-13 0.63 \u00b5m visible channel images (click to play animation)\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-13 0.63 \u00b5m visible channel images (click to play animation)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The SAL also exhibited a warm\/dry signature <em>(yellow to orange color enhancement)<\/em> on the corresponding GOES-13 6.5 \u00b5m water vapor channel images <em><strong>(below;
