With the approach of Iselle, the <a title=\"Central Pacific Hurricane Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.prh.noaa.gov\/cphc\/\"><strong>Central Pacific Hurricane Center<\/strong><\/a> issued its first Hurricane Warning for a portion of Hawai&#8217;i since 1993.<\/p>\n<p>An animation of GOES-15 0.63 \u00b5m visible channel images during daylight and 10.7 \u00b5m IR images at night<em><strong> (below; click to play animation; also available as an <a title=\"MP4 movie file\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/140807-08_goes15_visible_ir_Iselle_anim.mp4\">MP4 movie file<\/a>)<\/strong><\/em> revealed a deteriorating satellite signature as the hurricane approached the Big Island of Hawai&#8217;i &#8212; and Iselle was downgraded to a Tropical Storm around 08 UTC on 08 August. However, <a title=\"MIMIC Total Precipitable Water product\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/140808_00z_mimic_tpw.jpg\"><strong>abundant moisture<\/strong><\/a> and orographic effects led to some locations receiving <a title=\"rainfall reports\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/140808_hfo_pns.text\"><strong>over 10 inches of rainfall<\/strong><\/a> in a 24-hour period.
