This was what remained of the general <a title=\"new snowfall amounts (NOHRSC)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nohrsc.noaa.gov\/interactive\/html\/map.html?ql=station&amp;zoom=&amp;loc=Latitude%2CLongitude%3B+City%2CST%3B+or+Station+ID&amp;var=snowfall_24_h&amp;dy=2014&amp;dm=1&amp;dd=24&amp;dh=0&amp;snap=1&amp;o9=1&amp;o12=1&amp;o13=1&amp;lbl=m&amp;mode=pan&amp;extents=us&amp;min_x=-107.31666666667&amp;min_y=35.324999999996&amp;max_x=-99.816666666668&amp;max_y=42.824999999996&amp;coord_x=-103.566666666669&amp;coord_y=39.074999999996&amp;zbox_n=&amp;zbox_s=&amp;zbox_e=&amp;zbox_w=&amp;metric=0&amp;bgvar=dem&amp;shdvar=shading&amp;width=1000&amp;height=1000&amp;nw=1000&amp;nh=1000&amp;h_o=0&amp;font=0&amp;js=1&amp;uc=0\"><strong>1-4 inches of new snow<\/strong><\/a> that fell over that area, aided by upslope flow in the wake of a southward-moving cold frontal passage on <a title=\"23 January 2014 daily weather map\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/dailywxmap\/index_20140123.html\"><strong>23 January<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A comparison of this Day\/Night Band image with the corresponding VIIRS 11.45-3.74 \u00c2\u00b5m IR brightness temperature difference (BTD) &#8220;Fog\/stratus product&#8221; and 11.45 \u00c2\u00b5m IR channel images <strong><em>(below)<\/em><\/strong> confirmed that this feature seen on the DNB image was not an area of fog or low-level clouds (although some patches of cold high-altitude clouds were seen from far northern Colorado into Wyoming and Nebraska).
