Maximum ASCAT wind speeds were <a title=\"58 knots at 12:16 UTC\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2013\/12\/131229_g13_wv_1216z_ascat_58knots_Greenland.jpg\"><strong>58 knots at 12:16 UTC<\/strong><\/a>, <a title=\"62 knots at 13:57 UTC\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2013\/12\/131229_g13_wv_1357z_ascat_62knots_Greenland.jpg\"><strong>62 knots at 13:57 UTC<\/strong><\/a>, and <a title=\"62 knots at 22:09 UTC\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2013\/12\/131229_g13_wv_2209z_ascat_62knots_Greenland.jpg\"><strong>62 knots at 22:09 UTC<\/strong><\/a>. It is interesting to note that a secondary area of low pressure was seen rotating around the primary low, and appeared to be rapidly intensifying judging from the quick development of a &#8220;corkscrew&#8221; appearance on the water vapor imagery near the end of the animation.
