After the clouds had cleared in the wake of the departing system, the areal extent of the remaining snow on the ground &#8212; which ranged from 1-6 inches at some locations across <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2012\/11\/121109_nj_snow_depth.jpg\" title=\"New Jersey snow cover\">New Jersey<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2012\/11\/121109_ny_snow_depth.jpg\" title=\"New York snow cover\">New York<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2012\/11\/121109_ct_snow_depth.jpg\" title=\"Connecticut snow cover\">Connecticut<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2012\/11\/121109_ma_snow_depth.jpg\" title=\"Massachusetts snow depth\">Massachusetts<\/a><\/strong> &#8212; was shown in an AWIPS comparison of 375-meter resolution <em>(re-projected onto a 1-km AWIPS grid)<\/em> Suomi NPP VIIRS 0.64 \u00c2\u00b5m visible channel and false-color Red\/Green\/Blue (RGB) images at 17:25 UTC <em>(12:25 PM local time)<\/em> on <strong>09 November 2012<\/strong> <strong><em>(above)<\/em><\/strong>. In the false-color VIIRS RGB image, snow on the ground was enhanced in shades of pink.<\/p>\n<p>Note to National Weather Service forecast offices: as a part of our participation in  <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes_r\/proving-ground.html\" title=\"GOES-R Proving Ground\">GOES-R Proving Ground<\/a><\/strong> activities, CIMSS is able to provide a limited set of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes_r\/proving-ground\/awips\/snpp\/index.html\" title=\"Suomi NPP VIIRS imagery in AWIPS\">VIIRS imagery<\/a><\/strong> for display in your local AWIPS (via LDM feed).<\/p>\n<p>Additional detail could be seen in 250-meter resolution MODIS true-color and false-color RGB images at 18:02 UTC <em>(1:08 PM local time)<\/em> from the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ge.ssec.wisc.edu\/modis-today\/index.php?satellite=t1&#038;product=true_color&#038;date=2012_11_09_314&#038;overlay_sector=false&#038;overlay_state=true&#038;overlay_coastline=true\" title=\"SSEC MODIS Today site\">SSEC MODIS Today<\/a><\/strong> site <strong><em>(below)<\/em><\/strong>.
