{"id":115,"date":"2006-09-15T23:14:03","date_gmt":"2006-09-15T23:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/2006\/09\/15\/differential-heating-and-lake-breeze-boundaries\/"},"modified":"2006-09-16T22:11:00","modified_gmt":"2006-09-16T22:11:00","slug":"differential-heating-and-lake-breeze-boundaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/115","title":{"rendered":"Differential heating and lake breeze boundaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" title=\"MODIS true color image\" href=\"http:\/\/eosdb.ssec.wisc.edu\/modisdirect\/terra\/calibratedImages\/2006\/258\/2006-09-15_1608-1620_GRLA_010403_HKM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"372\" align=\"middle\" alt=\"MODIS true color image\" title=\"MODIS true color image\" src=\"http:\/\/eosdb.ssec.wisc.edu\/modisdirect\/terra\/calibratedImages\/2006\/258\/2006-09-15_1608-1620_GRLA_010403_HKM.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the Terra MODIS true color image <em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em> an extensive cumulus field can be seen forming over the land surfaces surrounding Lake Michigan on 15 September &#8212; daytime heating along with the evaporation of abundant soil moisture (from significant precipitation on <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"12 September total precipitation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/dailywxmap\/htmlimages\/dwm_p24i_20060912.gif\"><strong>12 September<\/strong><\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"13 September total precipitation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/dailywxmap\/htmlimages\/dwm_p24i_20060913.gif\"><strong>13 September<\/strong><\/a>) allowed the cumulus clouds to form quickly as the day progressed (<a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Aqua MODIS true color image\" href=\"http:\/\/eosdb.ssec.wisc.edu\/modisdirect\/aqua\/calibratedImages\/2006\/258\/2006-09-15_1929-1939_GRLA_010403_HKM.jpg\"><strong>Aqua MODIS image 3 hours later<\/strong><\/a>).
