This interaction, called the Fujiwhara Effect, may be occurring in the image loop above.  Typhoon Bolaven approaches Typhoon Tembin, and the distance between the two reaches a minimum on <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2012\/08\/MTSAT2_IR_23Aug_0332.gif\">23 August<\/a>, after which time Tembin moves west and Bolaven moves northwest.
