PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TALLAHASSEE FL 550 PM EST Wed Jan 3 2018 ...Winter Storm Ice and Snowfall Accumulations... Early Wednesday Morning, a combination of freezing rain and sleet began across the Florida Big Bend and moved into South Central Georgia. The precipitation transitioned to all snow, generally along and north of a line from Crawfordville, FL to Madison, FL around 8 AM ET. South of this line, the precipitation remained generally freezing rain. All wintry precipitation ended around 11 AM ET across our region. Significant ice and snow accumulations for this portion of the country were reported across the region. This event also produced the first measurable snowfall for Tallahassee since December 23, 1989, a period of 28 years. Additionally, based on official records at Tallahassee, which date back to April 1885, this is the first measurable snowfall in Tallahassee during the month of January.
