Smoke From Wildfires Burning in Idaho and Montana

This animation of daily MODIS aersol optical depth (AOD) images showed a high AOD signal (orange to red enhancment) due to thick smoke from widespread wildfire activity in Idaho and western Montana in late July 2007. Much of this smoke was subsequently transported eastward by an advancing cold frontal boundary.
