This animation of GOES-12 3.9 micrometer IR (channel 02) images shows hot spots from a fire in New Jersey that was started by a flare from a military jet on 15 May 2007. The hottest pixels are enhanced in the yellow to red colors; however, the GOES-12 3.9 micrometer detectors have a "roll-over" issue that makes very hot pixels appear as "cold" pixels (white enhancement)..
