This animation of GOES-12 visible (channel 01) images shows thick plumes of smoke emanating from large fire complexes burning in southeastern Georgia and northern Florida on 11 May 2007. Strong winds around the periphery of Subtropical Storm Andrea (located off the east coast of Florida) were helping the fire activity to intensify.
