This animation of GOES-12 3.9 micrometer IR channel images shows several "hot spots" (black enhancement) across the Texas panhandle region on 24 February 2007. Strong winds gusted to 60-70 mph across that area, which also created widespread blowing dust -- this dust cloud appears slightly darker (warmer) due to the 3.9 micrometer channel's sensitivity to reflected solar radiation.
