An occluded front extended to the east through Missouri into another low pressure center. Surface observations and Doppler radar indicated that moderate snow was falling over South Dakota and Nebraska, while moderate and isolated heavier snow was falling over portions of Minessota, Iowa, and Illinois. Moderate to heavy snow is expected to continue over the Upper Midwest where widespread accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are likely, though some isolated areas in Minnesota and Iowa may recieve more. As warmer air encroaches north later in the day the snow will give way to a wintry mix over the region. Freezing rain within this wintry mix could accumulate on roads and sidewalks, generating slippery coniditons. Therefore, caution should be exercised if traveling overnight.
