Moisture sourced from the Gulf of Mexico will work in tandem with cool air and shortwave energy to the north and east of the surface low pressure center to keep snowfall rates high (1-2"/hr) over the Central Rockies and central High Plains overnight. Strong winds gusting from 30 to 40 mph are expected to accompany these high snowfall rates, producing blizzard conditions in some areas. This will make road and air travel difficult if not impossible. Snowfall over the Central Rockies and central High Plains is expected to end in the early hours tomorrow, having moved on to the eastern Plains and Upper Midwest where more modest snowfall rates and amounts are expected. Once all is said and done, one to two feet of snow will have likely accumulated along the Colorado Front Range, Wyoming Laramie Range, and in the surrounding areas of the I-25 urban corridor, with some isolated areas potentially receiving over three feet. The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction Center at 900 AM MDT Mon Mar 15 2021.
