This loop of GOES-8 visible imagery shows the development of a series of elongated convective cloud bands that developed in the area between Midland, San Angelo, and Abilene Texas. These convective bands enhanced the snowfall rates across that region (reports of 6-7 inches of snow were recieved from the counties just southwest of Abilene) as they fed northwestward into the main cold cloud band over Southwest Texas.
Hourly surface precipitation reports are also plotted on the imagery (asterisks = snow; solid dots = rain).
