A tornado occurred at Granite Falls, Minnesota (just southeast of Montevideo, identifier KMVE) around 23:20 UTC (6:20 PM CDT) on 25 July 2000. One person was killed and 15 were injured, with hundreds of homes and buildings damaged. The NOAA GOES-8 visible and InfraRed (IR) imagery above shows the development of severe convection across southern Minnesota that afternoon.
