CSPP Geo GEOCAT Version 1.1 Beta 1 Release

The Version 1.1 Beta 1 release of the CSPP Geo GEOCAT Beta package processes Himawari-8 and Himawari-9 AHI data through to Level 2 products. This beta release includes cloud and fog algorithms.

This beta release includes the following major capabilities:

  • Himawari-9 AHI is now supported.
  • Legacy GOES Imager (GVAR) is no longer supported.
  • Updated core GEOCAT software baseline.
  • Experimental capability added to periodically download dynamic ancillary data.
  • Satellite auto-detection implemented for HSD.
  • Optional level-1 output, including channel selection.
  • Optional level-2 per-algorithm execution and output.
  • User can specify dynamic ancillary and temporal data cache locations.

The recommended hardware configuration to run Geocat on ABI data is a rack-mounted system with the specifications shown below. This assumes that only Geocat processing will be done on the machine, and does not account for quicklook image generation.

Minimum system requirements:

  • Intel Xeon E5 v2 “Ivy Bridge”, 20-core (2 x 10-core), 2.8GHz CPU with 64-bit instruction support,
  • 192 GB RAM
  • CentOS 7 64-bit Linux (or other compatible 64-bit Linux distribution),
  • 14 TB disk space (does not include long-term storage)
