Richards and T. Wagner http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/wvssii/ Weather Conditions: Cooler than before. Temperatures in the mid to upper 60s with dewpoints in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Slight cloudiness turning to broken clouds just before dawn. Instrument Status: * AERIBago - No more issues with power loss * Surface station - working and archiving * Ceilometer - working and archiving * GPS system - operators are currenty attempting to locate the software to download the data form the GPS unit so that it can be uploaded to the proper locations. GPS unit is archiving properly. * AERI - archiving properly. * Radiosonde system is working and archiving 3 launches were completed today 0240 UTC Launch normal, data good 0645 UTC Launch normal, but due to some as yet unkown issue (random software glitch or other problem) the data from this launch was lost. Sounding shutdown procedures will be reviewed and the sounding unit will be rebooted to try and clear the issue 0930 UTC Launch delayed to 0930 UTC at ATC request. Launch normal. Science Discussion: Figure one: Two CIMSS radiosonde launches at 0240 and 0930 UTC, significant moistening in PBL, much stronger 250 mb wind field (NW flow). Figure two: Best 0240 UTC radiosonde match to a UPS descent at 0442 UTC (two hours later)
