Cool frontal passage at 1800 UTC with thunderstorms north and south of area. Partly cloudy to clear overnight with temperatures falling to 69 F by 10 UTC, dewpoints dropping Instrument Status: * AERIBago - Power failure between 14-22 UTC 20050614, no data from instruments below during this time (crew was getting some much needed rest eye) * Surface station - working properly * Ceilometer working and archiving * GPS system working and archiving * AERI working and archiving * Radiosonde system is working and archiving 3 launches were completed today 0240 UTC Launch normal, data good 0645 UTC Launch normal, data good 0925 UTC Launch normal, good data, 0915 launch time moved to accommodate UPS aircraft departures data uploaded to FSL ACARS Viewer Science/Miscellaneous: Compared 0925 UTC radiosonde launch (chosen due to most matches) and several UPS ascents between 0831- 0940 UTC. Figure 1 are the 800 - 900 UTC WVSS-II matches to the 0925 UTC radiosonde. Two of the matches look very good: FSL Tail 1384 and 287 the other has an issue above 700 mb (or where mixing ratio falls below 1 g/kg). Again these are all ascents. The PBL temp/moisture structure is resolved very well by all the aircraft. More to come. As requested by Randy May figure two contains a summary of radiosonde profiles for the night of 20050614 and figure 3 for 20050615 to get an idea of the atmospheric variability through the ~8 hour nocturnal time period.
