Mission: MODIS IR cal mission with Terra underflight (1726 UTC).

Mission Objectives

Collect coincident ER-2  and Terra data for assessing MODIS IR calibration.  Clear sky over Lake Michigan water background will be used for the scenes.

Flight Summary

Take-off was at 1630 UTC. ER-2 landed at 1845 UTC.

ER-2 flew from MSN towards OSH, and proceeded east to the Lake MI racetrack oriented along Terra overpass (1725 UTC; 30 deg view angle).  Skies clear over Lake MI for both orbits of the racetrack (43 deg 28'N, 86 deg 32'W to 41 deg 51'N, 87 deg 05'W and 41 deg 55.8'N, 87 deg 30'W to 43 deg 33'N, 86 deg 57'W).   Classonde launched at U. Wisconsin at 1700 UTC.  Collected AirMISR data segments on western leg of both orbits.

Highlights

Coincident Terra/ER-2 data at 1726 UTC (30 deg view angle) over clear sky Lake MI.

Additional Pilot Notes: No turbulence. Hazy at southern end of Lake MI (near Chicago).
