Instrument Status: * Surface pressure, RH, and temperature sensors working and archiving. Anemometer has completely failed, no plans as of yet for a new one for the duration of TAVE-II. * Ceilometer working and archiving * GPS system working and archiving * AERI working and archiving * Radiosonde system is working and archiving 2 launches were completed today 1915 UTC Launch normal, data good 2200 UTC Launch normal, data good Science/Miscellaneous: Through analysis of the Memphis TAMDAR takeoff/landing timing and through consulatation, we have reduced the number of sonde launches per day to 4 (from 5). We have also adjusted the timing of 2 launches by up to 15 mins in order to achieve the maximum number of sonde/TAMDAR matchups without interrupting Memphis control tower operations. All CIMSS data quicklooks are being produced in real-time and are available at: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tamdar/ Of special interest is the new TAMDAR/AERI/RUC-20 data daily cross-section page at: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tamdar/quicklooks.php Here you will find cross-sections from the period starting on Feb 21, 2005 to the present, with consistent color scalings and time domain. AERI data is only available during TAVE-I (Feb 23-Mar 8) and TAVE-II (May 16-May 28). Also, one can view TAMDAR x-sects from both Minneapolis/St. Paul and Detroit.
