Recent innovations in deriving atmospheric motion vectors
at CIMSS

The seminar will review several areas of research ongoing at
CIMSS in deriving atmospheric motion vectors from satellite data.
Brief presentations will be given on deriving winds from simulated
(GIFTS/HES) and real (GOES) sounder retrieval data (tracking
height-resolved moisture fields), new techniques to correct satellite
navigation, and an update on polar winds. These topics were recently
presented at the 8th International Winds Workshop in Beijing.
