Lecturers

  • W. Paul Menzel, Associate Professor in the Atmospheric and Oceanic Madison, is the Senior Scientist to the Office of Research and Applications and specializes in calibration of infrared remote sensing radiometers, radiative transfer in the atmosphere, cloud studies with multispectral instruments (HIRS, MODIS), and evolving the current sounders to interferometers.
  • Paolo Antonelli has been a researcher at the Space Science Engineering Center (SSEC) - UW-Madison since 1997. He received a PhD from the Unversity of Wisconsin Madison working on infrared remote sensing of the atmosphere at high spectral resolution. Most of his work is related to information content, retrievals of atmospheric temperature, water vapor profile and cloud properties.

Host

Alberto Marini, Professor at the University of Cagliari. His activities are focused on Thematic Cartography and Physical Geology, at the Direction of the TeleGis Laboratory, Dep. of Earth Science, Cagliari University. Involved in International Cooperation with Addis Ababa University from '86 to '96 when an AVHRR receiver was activated. Recent upgrade of the Cagliari laboratory has facilitated the realization of a network between Mediterranean Centers interested in direct broadcast of MODIS satellite.
The experiences acquired on remote sensing led to new interests in the interactions between climate and geomorphology over all North Africa.
