Dr. Paul Menzel, chief of the Advanced Satellite Products Project of NOAA/NESDIS, is a MODIS Atmosphere Discipline Group Science Team Member. He heads the University of Wisconsin-Madison CIMSS MODIS team which is responsible for developing software that will generate these MODIS data products:
Cloud Mask Cloud Top Properties Cloud Infrared Thermodynamic Phase Atmospheric Profiles and Total Column Ozone.
Each of these products will be generated from 1 km MODIS L1B radiances and MODIS geolocation files as input. In addition, other ancillary data sets, such as the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) temperature and moisture fields, will also be used. The output products will be produced in EOS-HDF format and distributed by the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC).
