Step 1) Getting admitted to UW Madison as a Special (non-degree) Student
You can apply to the UW online at http://apply.wisconsin.edu/msn/special. In about two weeks you'll receive a letter from the Adult and Student Services Center confirming your admission. Be sure to save this letter as you will need your 10-digit Student ID number provided. If you have questions about the status of your application or trouble completing the online application contact the Adult and Student Services Center, 608-263-6960.
Step 2) Activating your NetID and Password
After you receive your 10-digit Student ID go on-line to My UW https://my.wisc.edu and click on the "Activate your NetID" link near the top of the page. (If you have a UW email account, your NetID is the portion before @wisc.edu) Demos and instructions, including videos and images of relevant web pages can be viewed at http://registrar.wisc.edu/demos.htm.
When you activate your NetID you will create your own password. Retain both of these as you will need them to enroll. If you have problems activating your NetID or forget your password contact the DoIT help desk at 608-264-4357.
Step 5) Departmental Authorization The first ten teachers will be able to register automatically, after that you'll need to contact the UW AOS department to be cleared to register. If this is the case call 262-2827 and have your 10-digit Student ID ready.
Step 4) Enrolling in your Class
To enroll, go to MyUW, http://my.wisc.edu , insert your NetID and password then click on "Student Center" and "Add a Class." A new browser window should open, select the correct enrollment term and input the five digit class number listed in the UW timetable.
