Satellite Application Facility on Climate Monitoring

The Satellite Application Facility on Climate Monitoring (CM SAF), as part of the distributed EUMETSAT application ground segment, will start initial operations from early 2004 onwards on a routine basis.

The CM SAF consortium aims at providing the following satellite based products on a long term basis to support climate monitoring:

  • Cloud products
  • Components of the surface radiation budget
  • Radiation fluxes at the top of the atmosphere
  • Scatterometer ocean stress at the ocean surface
  • Water vapour in the atmosphere
Along with these products comprehensive metadata and information on validation data will be provided as well as user support, including, within the framework of the CM SAF Visiting Scientist scheme, a limited budget to familiarise potential users with these products.

For further information please refer to the CM SAF web site http://www.cmsaf.dwd.de or contact directly martin.werscheck@dwd.de.
