GOES-R AWG (Algorithm
Working Group) Model-Derived Proxy Datasets
NWP Modeling Investigators: Jason A. Otkin and H.-L. Allen Huang. Objective: In support of the NOAA GOES-R mission and the ongoing GOES-R Risk Reduction (GOES-R3) effort, the GOES-R Algorithm Working Group (AWG) was created in order to manage and coordinate development of GOES-R products and validation activities that will support preparation for GOES-R implementation and operations. As part of this project, sophisticated numerical weather prediction (NWP) models have been used to generate simulated atmospheric profile datasets with high spatial and temporal resolution for a wide range of atmospheric conditions. These proxy datasets are subsequently used by various GOES-R team members for algorithm development and demonstration activities. |
