Update #1: GOES-14 imagery start up will be on January 27, 2016. See details below. Topic: GOES-14 (105W) imagery operation will begin on January 27, 2016 Date/Time Issued: January 26, 2016 1345 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-14 Imager and Sounder data Date/Time of Initial Impact: January 27, 2016 ~1600 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: February 29, 2016 ~1600 UTC Length of Outage: See table in Details. Details/Specifics of Change: Due to the Federal Government shutdown in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, GOES-14 imagery start up has been delayed from January 25, 2016 to January 27, 2016. The following notification reflects the new schedule of events.*** GOES-14 (105W) imagery operation will begin on January 27, 2016 for subsequent SRSOR (Super Rapid Scan Operations GOES-R) testing in support of GOES-R ABI (starts on February 1, 2016). ESPC Operations will NOT be deriving and distributing GOES-14 science test data; however, users with direct rebroadcast capabilities should exploit this opportunity to retest their GVAR ingest equipment. GOES-14 Sounder imagery will not be sent over the SBN to AWIPS. Navigation location for GOES-14 is found at within WMO header TBUS09, and is located roughly at 105 degrees west. GOES-14 Normal Mode Activities and Operations include: Month/Day - Activity 01/27 to 01/29 - INR (Image Navigation Registration) start-up; 01/29 - Start running daily optimized GOES-East Routine schedules. 01/29 - E/W Maneuver @14:30 UTC (maneuver notification will follow) 02/01* to 02/14* - Support GOES-R SRSOR (Super Rapid Scan Operations GOES-R) testing. 02/14* to 02/15* - East Routine 02/15* to 02/25* - Support GOES-R SRSOR (Super Rapid Scan Operations GOES-R) testing. 02/01 to 02/25 - Default East Routine schedules will be run if no SRSOR request is received. 02/25* to 02/26 - East Routine 02/26 - Return to standby mode * - Transition from one schedule to another schedule will be at 11:15 UTC. Please note: GOES-14 SRSOR (Super Rapid Scan Operation GOES-R) schedule will be generated daily in addition to the default schedule. SRSOR locations will change at 11:15 UTC daily, as will transition to/from SRSOR/Routine schedules. In addition, the GOES-14 sounder timing has been adjusted to match the GOES-13 sounder timing (with the exception of special activities such as Housekeeping) in both Routine and SRSOR schedules from January 27 through February 26, 2016. All GOES-East and -West operations as well as any health and safety concerns take precedence over SRSOR schedule transitions. All new day transitions will be at 0134 UTC and daily housekeeping activities will be at 1900 UTC.
